Farm Equipment Welding Repair in West-Central Minnesota

When a tractor cracks a frame or a loader arm splits in the middle of harvest, you don't have time to load it on a trailer and chase down a shop. Johnson Metal Works repairs farm and ag equipment on your operation or in our shop — steel, cast, and aluminum — so you can get back to the field fast.

Farm Equipment Welding Repair

Built for hard use, fixed for hard use

Around here, equipment earns its keep. A skid steer that runs every morning, a planter that goes 16 hours a day in May, a grain auger that never sees a break in October — that kind of work finds the weak spots. Stress cracks form at the corners of frames. Bucket arms and loader brackets fatigue and tear. Augers wear thin and flighting gets chewed up. Cast hubs and housings split clean through. We fix all of it.

Our shop welds steel, stainless, aluminum, and cast iron, and we know which process the job actually calls for — MIG for production speed on heavy steel, TIG when a thin or aluminum part needs a clean, controlled weld, and stick when we're out in the wind on a frame that won't come apart. Cracked castings get the right pre-heat and rod so the repair holds instead of cracking again next season. We build the repair to take the load it'll see, not just to close the gap.

Most of this work happens during the windows where you can least afford to lose a machine. We get that. When you call during planting or harvest, downtime is the whole problem, so we bring the welder to you whenever the repair makes sense in the field. For bigger rebuilds, fabricating new brackets, or reinforcing a frame that keeps failing, the shop gives us the room and the fixturing to do it right.

What we repair

Ag equipment we weld and rebuild

From the cab to the hitch and everything that bolts, pins, or welds to it. If it's metal and it broke in the field, we've probably fixed one.

Tractors & frames

Cracked frame rails, broken weight brackets, three-point hitch arms, drawbars, and step and fender repairs that hold up to real hours.

Loaders & bucket arms

Loader arms, boom and lift brackets, quick-attach plates, and worn bucket edges and cutting lips re-welded, reinforced, or rebuilt.

Skid steers

Bucket and attachment repairs, cracked lift-arm welds, pin bosses, and mounting plates for graders, grapples, and forks.

Augers & flighting

Worn flighting built back up or replaced, cracked auger tubes, intake hoppers, and drive housings welded back to service.

Grain handling

Hopper bins, gravity boxes, grain cart frames, leg and conveyor supports, and downspouts patched and reinforced.

Implements & tillage

Cultivators, field finishers, disks, planters, sprayer booms, and toolbars — broken shanks, hangers, and mainframe cracks.

Feed bunks & gates

Steel feed bunks, head locks, panel gates, and farmstead fencing rebuilt or fabricated to fit your setup.

Livestock equipment

Headgates, chutes, panels, calf shelters, and barn hardware repaired with welds that stand up to cattle and weather.

Hitches & castings

Hitches, ball mounts, pintle plates, and cracked or broken cast hubs and housings welded with the correct pre-heat and rod.

How it works

From broke-down to back in the field

Tell us what failed

Call or text with the machine, the part, and a photo if you've got one. We'll size up the repair and tell you whether it's a field fix or shop work.

We come to you when it counts

During planting and harvest, we bring the welder out so the machine doesn't leave your operation. Bigger jobs come back to the shop where we can fixture and reinforce.

Fixed to take the load

We pick the right process and metal, prep the joint properly, and weld it to handle the stress it'll see — not just to close the crack.

Back to work

You get a repair you can trust through the season, a straight answer on what failed, and what to watch so it doesn't happen again.
