Welding & Fabrication in New London, MN
From the Mill Pond and the Crow River out to the farms east of town, Johnson Metal Works brings experienced mobile welding to New London. Dock and boat lift work on Green Lake and Norway Lake, farm and acreage repair, aluminum, steel, stainless, and cast iron — on your site or in our shop.
A welder who knows the New London-Spicer lakes country
New London sits right where the lake life and the farm country meet. The Crow River runs through the middle of town and feeds the Mill Pond, and you're only minutes from Green Lake and Norway Lake, with Nest Lake and the whole chain just up the road. That mix is exactly the kind of work we do best — aluminum dock and lift repairs along the shoreline one day, a cracked implement or a gate frame out on an acreage the next.
The drive over from our Sunburg shop is a short one, roughly eleven miles down through Kandiyohi County, so getting to a job in New London is no trouble at all. Whether you're on the water near the city beach, out past the golf course, or on a farm toward Roseville Township, we'll come to you with a truck set up to weld steel, stainless, aluminum, and cast iron on site.
New London-Spicer is a tight community, and we treat it like one. We show up when we say we will, do the weld right the first time, and stand behind it. Need a hand farther around the lakes? We also cover Spicer and the county seat over in Willmar.
From the shoreline to the back forty
Lake property, hobby farms, and working acreages all keep us busy here. A few of the jobs we get called for most often around New London:
Dock & boat lift repair
Cracked aluminum dock sections, bent lift legs, and broken brackets on Green Lake, Norway Lake, and the Mill Pond. We can weld it on the shore or back at the shop. See dock & boat lift repair.
Farm & acreage equipment
Loader buckets, hitches, augers, gates, feeders, and broken implement frames on the farms around New London and out toward Roseville Township.
Trailer & hitch repair
Boat trailers, utility and stock trailers, frames, fenders, and tongues — the kind of fix you want done before the next haul to the landing.
Aluminum & stainless work
Pontoon parts, railings, brackets, and lake-house projects in aluminum or stainless, TIG-welded clean so they hold up to the water.
Railings, gates & fences
Shoreline stairs, deck and dock railings, ornamental gates, and fence repair for lake homes and acreages near town.
Custom fabrication
One-off brackets, stands, racks, and fixtures built to fit. If you can sketch it, we can likely build it — see custom fabrication.
We bring the shop to you
Hauling a bent boat lift or a broken implement into town is a hassle — so we don't make you. Our truck is set up to run our own power and the right process for the metal in front of us, which means most repairs get handled right where they sit, on the dock or out in the yard.
Years of work across the lakes and farms of west-central Minnesota means we've seen these jobs before. We read the break, pick the right filler and process, and put down a weld that lasts — not a quick patch that fails again next season. When a job needs the full shop, we'll pull it back to Sunburg and have it ready when promised.
Learn more about how it works on our mobile welding page.
Set up to weld whatever the job calls for
No single process fits every repair. We match the metal and the situation, on site or in the shop:
Aluminum dock and pontoon work calls for clean TIG; a heavy loader bracket or trailer frame wants the penetration of MIG or stick. We carry the right gear for each, so the lake jobs and the farm jobs both get the weld they should. See all our services or jump to aluminum welding.
Common questions from around the lakes
How far is New London from your shop?
We're based in Sunburg, about 11 miles northwest of New London. It's a quick run down through Kandiyohi County, so getting to a job in town, out on Green Lake or Norway Lake, or on a farm nearby is no problem.
Do you come out to the lake or the farm?
Yes. Most of our New London work is mobile. We'll meet you at the dock to look at a boat lift, or drive out to the acreage for an implement repair, and handle it on site whenever we can. If it needs the full shop, we'll haul it back to Sunburg.
Can you fix aluminum docks and boat lifts?
Absolutely — it's a big part of what we do here. Cracked aluminum dock sections, bent lift legs, broken brackets and welds, we repair them so they're solid for the season. Details on our dock & boat lift repair page.
Do you also work in Spicer and Willmar?
We do. The New London-Spicer lakes area and the whole Willmar region are right in our service area. Check out our Spicer and Willmar pages, or our full service area.
